Sorry this little recap is behind. I got so busy yesterday! After my BRICK (which I’ll go into detail in a minute), mom and I went shopping to pick up a few things here and there for the wedding. We got some super important details taken care of and it finally feels like it’s falling together!
So— as I mentioned earlier, I was meeting Kellie for my first real life BRICK. And let me tell you, I smashed it! Honestly, I surprised the shit out of myself. I know I’m relatively strong, but I don’t think I give myself enough credit. Plus, I was really nervous. Like, really, really, really nervous. First, this was my first real ride on my bike and second, I was scared to embarrass myself in front of my new training buddy! None happened. My ass was dying on the bike, so I know a new seat is necessary, but I did really well. The ride was easy. I tried to play with my paces a little bit more than anything I was just trying to get comfy on my bike. I even successfully reached for my water bottle, drank some delicious nuun and replaced it without crashing. SUCCESS! Kellie had us bike what ended up being 8.77mi, then as fast as possible, put our bikes away, change shoes and hit the road for a 2 mi run. She is speedy, so I tried to push myself since I knew the run was short without totally burning out. Comfortable for me is 10:30 so I tried to stay under 10:00. I was even running 9:15-9:30 at times!! The last .10 is my favorite because I love to sprint to the finish, which I did. Total time 1:00:56 and 543cal. HOLLAAAA!!
I think it could have been faster, but we were very conservative on the bike. Overall I am stoked. I loved it. Sometimes I forget how much I love being a competitor. That is where my heart is. In the competition, in the training. “Always towards better”. That’s my thing. Always pushing for faster, harder, stronger.
That’s what she said.
It’s also pretty damn thrilling I’m noticing more positive changes in my body. I’m an athlete. I just am and running and training has the best benefit to me.
Let me just say I can’t wait until tomorrow to begin my official training.
And today is Sunday. Which means Sunday morning, coffee, a relaxing breakfast and maybe some date time with my Log. Who is STILL SLEEPING RIGHT NOW. Meanwhile, I’ve cooked breakfast and did 2 load of laundry. Get on my level.
What’s your weekend been like?!
